2011 Troop Report

We have completed the community and creative challenge badges and currently this term working on the global challenge with a few of our older members well on track to achieving the Chief Scout Gold award hopefully by Easter. Our plan then is to form the now patrol leaders into a senior patrol giving movement in the patrols to give others the opportunity to take the Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader roles. Several of the scouts have also been working hard at home gaining activity badges by either completing projects or using other of their own interests and activities to achieve these.

We have been busy outdoors activities including a back to basics camp at Braid wood where scouts cooked on fire all weekend and slept in shelters they constructed.... Our 2010 summer camp in September at Phasels wood.... A winter activity camp at Tolmers scout camp in Hertfordshire.... Our very own first group camp at Phasels wood in July this year with Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all staying on site and taking part in various activities together over the weekend ( I must say personally I have had enough of the pothole system there for a lifetime!!).... And in September this year we had a fantastic weekend of climbing in the Peak District where we climbed and abseiled on Stanage Edge, weaselling at Higger Tor and an 80ft free-line abseil off of Millersdale Bridge over a river, well done to David Marr-Leonard who also stopped half way down one of the abseils to be invested and make his Scout promise along with taking one hand off to make the scout sign!!!
